The movie based in a true story mixed with some drama. The movie takes place in Alabama from 1932 to 1972 for syphilis research names “Tuskegee Study” It’s about a nurse (Eunice Ever) and a doctor (Sam Brotus) taked 412 men in Macon country infected with Syphilis for a syphilis study. The doctor and the nurse knew what happen but they choosed to lied to the population by making them believe they were treating them from syphilis. In reality the doctor didn’t do anything to help those men who were suffering. The doctor just wants to prove the syphilis reaction between black and white people. In the movie they have for musician who has a band they was in the treatment also they trust the nurse so much, the name the band after her where the movie take name also “Miss Ever’s Boys”. One of the band member name Caleb Humphis was in love with nurse Evers and didn’t trust the doctor, and refuse for “suppose treatment”. Caleb Joint the army during the World War2 and got a shot of penicillin this cured his syphilis. After five without a word, he came back and asked nurse Ever to get married and moved to Chicago with him .She refused to married and moved with him because she felt guilty and stayed to give those men her support. In sum, after 40 years only 127 men survive from that unscrupulous experience. And they didn’t really prove anything because we all the same inside of us even though we different color.
In all honesty, I really confuse in that critical situation nurse Evers confront in her personal life and her professional life. My point is nurse Evers already did what she did and she choose to be professional keep patient privacy. Did she do that for money? Or it is for love? Or it is for compassion? Even though she stay that is not going to change anything in Macon country, but if she went with Caleb may be everything going to change like built a family tree. The point of view I have for the movie is a great movie for people who study in the medical field, but actually is good for everybody to open their eyes on doctor and nurse they confide their life.
